With a growing family, the owners of this home required more bedrooms and common areas that could accommodate more than 3 or 4 people at a time. In order to gain the needed spaces, the ground floor plan was completely re-configured. Moving the entry from the former side yard to the street front allowed the Kitchen to be moved to the rear of the home. Creating an open plan great-room at the rear of the home provides this family of 5 with enough space to gather, play and take advantage of the tree shaded outdoor areas.
The new second floor was planned to provide separate bedrooms for each of 3 children. Large windows in the bedrooms help off-set the low ceilings necessitated by the height restrictions. Opening to views of native live oaks, the bedrooms seem to be rooms within the trees. Three full bathrooms and one guest bedroom downstairs round out his compact yet versatile home.
